Utah is home to a mix of chocolate makers, from bean-to-bar producers to larger operations. Mrs. Cavanaugh's takes a different approach — hand-crafting chocolates, caramels, and confections at a commercial scale without preservatives, using recipes passed down through three generations of the Cavanaugh family.
Visitors can book a factory tour to explore the 30,000-square-foot production facility, watch our team create handcrafted treats, and learn how our chocolates go from raw ingredients to finished pieces. Tours are available by reservation Monday through Friday.

In addition to handmade chocolates, the North Salt Lake location serves Mrs. Cavanaugh's premium ice cream made right here in our factory. Unlike many commercial ice creams made with lower-fat ingredients and whipped quickly for a lighter texture, we use high-quality rich cream and a slower process to create a thicker, smoother, and creamier result.
Many flavors include pieces of our handcrafted chocolates, bringing together two of our favorite treats in every scoop. Ice cream flavors rotate throughout the year — popular favorites include Chocolate, Cookie Dough, Cookies N Cream, Peanut Butter Cup, Rocky Road, Strawberry, and Vanilla, plus seasonal flavors like White Chocolate Raspberry, Utah Summer Peach, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, and Peppermint Oreo.

Factory tours
Booking, Pricing & Accessibility
Tickets cost $5 per person and include a $4 voucher toward purchases in the factory store, redeemable the same day as the tour. The tour is a great fit for kids, adults, school groups, and anyone curious about how quality chocolates are made. Groups of 30 or fewer can book online; larger groups should call ahead at (801) 677-8888.
Parts of the factory floor are not wheelchair accessible, but tour videos are available to all guests as an alternative. Guests with severe allergies or celiac disease should note that the facility processes tree nuts, peanuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, and coconut oil.
